Changes to DC BID Tax Payments

Important billing changes are occurring for Washington D.C. properties located within a Business Improvement District (BID). Starting April 1, BID payments will be included in one unified bill that also includes real property tax, along with any penalties and fees, such as outstanding fines, liens, etc. All payments will go toward the real property tax and penalties before the BID tax is paid.

 

Under the new system, bills will only be sent to owners of record. Property managers will not receive bills. Also, only property owners of record will be able to request changes to contact information. BIDs will no longer have the ability to make these changes on behalf of owners. Another change is that Wells Fargo Bank will no longer be the lock box for real property or BID tax payments.

 

Owners should immediately register at http://MyTax.DC.gov with the notice number listed on the letter received from the Office of Tax and Revenue to verify their address and contact information. The mortgage lender and title company should also be notified of the new system.
