DC Mandates Electronic I&E Reports

by Tom Branham, Washington D.C., January 2019

Business property owners in the District of Columbia will be required to file income and expense reports electronically beginning in 2019. Paper submissions will no longer be accepted.

The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) published amendments to the D.C. Register making it mandatory to electronically file the income and expense forms that are due annually before April 15.

Under the new rule, all income-producing properties (except hotels) shall provide complete rent rolls as of December 31 of the preceding calendar year. The rent rolls shall be an attachment to and an integral part of the income-expense form completed and filed electronically with the income-expense form.
