The first batch of revised revaluation notices are being issued to commercial property owners in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Thus far, only residential property owners have received revised values. The notices are the result of a thorough review conducted by Pearson's Appraisal Service of the 2011 countywide revaluation.
The new notices of value are being mailed to the current owner of the property, not the owner as of 2011 as was first planned. Owners must act quickly after receiving their notice. The appeal deadline is 30 days after the date of the notice.
Values established for 2011 will remain for 2012 through 2019. Pearson's expects to hit its target of reviewing 25,000 parcels a month so that the review will be complete by March 2015. Appeals before the Board of Equalization are expected to be conducted through March 2016.
